My Tea Cups...

I do love my hutch cabinet in the dinning room and all of the little goodies I have inside of it.

Many of the things I have had for a long time, all of them with sentimental value. Tea cups that belonged to my Nana, Grandma or Great Grandmas, tea pots given to me by my mom, a few things that were wedding gifts. The red and white tea cup is my favorite. The design is called Strawberry Fair and was made in England between 1959 and 1973. I have almost a complete set with tea cups, saucers, cream and sugar set, dessert plates, dinner plates, bowls and one serving bowl. I believe they belonged to my Nana, but there is a slight possibility they might have been her mom's, my Great Grandma T's.

They are so pretty to look at. One of my treasures...

  1. Those are so dainty and pretty. I too love to collect stuff like this. When we get our new house I will definitely get a hutch and start my collection. Do you have any pics of your hutch? You take awesome photos.

    1. Hi... If you go back in my posts to January, to the Heart Garland post, you can see a picture of my hutch. We found it at a furniture store where you pick an unfinished piece and then they finish it how you want it. We saw the hutch, with buffet, unfinished and I fell in love with it. When we went to the back to place our order we saw one that was painted white. The salesman told us it was another couple ordered it but when they saw it they didn't want it. See, it's made of pine and the knot holes cannot be covered, they continue to "bleed" through the paint. Lucky for me she hated it, because I loved it. And it was about $200.00 cheaper.

  2. I have an entire set (and many more teacup variations than those that belong in the set) of my Nana's prize china. They reside in MY hutch and I smile when I glance at them. I NEVER use them for fear of something being broken or chipped! Kinda sad, but true. They are treasures - and only for the looking. I wish I knew more of when she acquired them and how and where. Like you, I wonder if some of them didn't belong to her parents. My grandmother was born in 1883 - and the china dates waaaaay back. Isn't it lovely to have family heirlooms that connect us to the past as they do? Your treasures are just beautiful!!!

    1. My collection started with just 2 dinner plates, which I used all of the time. I even put them in the dish washer which was very bad of me. I don't use them any more. I've been blessed to receive as many pieces as I have. Although I think my aunt might have a couple of pieces from the set...
I love the story of your Nana's china and would love to see a picture of it.

  3. I love vintage china, especially when it has a family story! I bought two china cups yesterday which look like they were never used, I use all mine and if they have an accident or crack, I make them into a candle... I found you via Mollie Makes and am looking forward to going through your previous posts and trying some crochet ideas. I am new to crochet and am lapping up free patterns to extend my skills! Happy weekend! X

  5. I have my Nanny's favourite tea cup. I sometimes would like to use it but I am so scared I will break it.

  6. I love your red and white cups, I am slowly putting together a set of red transfer wear...different manufactures, but all similar in color and theme.

    Blessings!
